Robert Fiedler owner, Gallery Tribal Art

About

For the past 45 years, Robert Fiedler has had a passion for collecting fine African Art. After obtaining degrees in Anthropology, Robert developed an interest for African art while touring museums, galleries and antique shops in Europe for three months in 1975. Through associations with tribal art dealers, private collectors and museum groups, he developed an experienced eye for finding quality, older African material.

With his background in Anthropology, Robert values the ritual and cultural use of African objects and how they served a function in society. Like many collectors he appreciates the aesthetics, the rare quality and artistic style and forms of each carving.

In 2005 Robert and his wife Pamela opened their first gallery called Arteology in downtown Santa Fe. In 2011 they found a new location and opened Intrigue Gallery in the historic Canyon Road Art District. The gallery merges antique African art from Robert’s collection and features Pamela’s contemporary, figurative art.

Robert started his website www.GalleryTribalArt in 2009 offering quality, authentic African pieces hand picked from his private collection. For 7 years Robert was an exhibitor in the Objects of Art show in Santa Fe during August.
