An elegantly carved wooden Kuba cup that was used to drink and serve palm wine during ceremonial gatherings. The surface has incised diamond shaped geometric designs that resemble the cut pile and weave of a Kuba raffia cloth. Palm wine cups were owned by titleholders and were symbols of wealth and status.
