The Dan Racer mask from the Northern Dan is known as Gunyege, a manifestation of a benevolent spirit residing in the home. These masks are used in foot racing competitions by young men of the village during the dry season. This alluring mask has an oval form with circular eyes, arched brows, naturalistic nose and protruding lips. The mask is in excellent condition.
