The Kuba Kete carved a variety of helmet masks decorated with natural pigments, geometric designs of triangles and stripes, cowries, beads and fur.  There are punctures under the eyes which allowed the dancer's vision. Our Kuba Kete mask from the southern border of the Kuba kingdom was worn during initiation ceremonies and  funeral rites.
