Mangbetu sickle shaped blades called “trombash,” were used as weapons but were a form of currency and symbol of rank and prestige. The knife has a well forged blade, sharp on all edges with circular holes in the blade. The handle is wood with twisted and flat steel band wrapped and two projection plugs near the base.
