The Chokwe carved small wooden figures which belonged to individuals who used them to honor personal or family spirits. This Chokwe ancestor figure was kept in a shrine to secure spiritual support in sustaining personal wealth and social status.  This figure is carved with great attention to detail with legs slightly bent, arms close to the body with hands resting on the chest.
