Round masks of the Ekpo secret society were used during yam festivals and funeral ceremonies.  This moon shaped mask carved in relief stands out against a roughly circular disc perforated around the rim for attachment.  The disc is decorated on the surface with raised half and full circles with an encrusted brown-black patina.
